East Hill Classic

STREAM Collaborative designed an addition and expansion to an existing colonial house. Because the residence was built in 1914 effort was taken to incorporate traditional detailing. Work included renovation of the kitchen and dining room with a new master bedroom suite on the second floor.  Other work also included replacement of an old detached garage and new retaining walls and patio.

Form Ithaca

STREAM Collaborative consulted with Form Ithaca, an initiative to help support the ongoing efforts of the City and Town of Ithaca, NY to update land use regulations to meet the goals and objectives of their comprehensive plans. The project supports a full range of housing and lifestyle options within a framework that facilitates transportation choice, a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, and a strong economy for the region.

Ithaka Terraces

A new multi-family pocket neighborhood comprised of four buildings, two fronting West Spencer Street and two fronting West Cayuga Street. They are connected by a landscaped series of stairs and terraces going up the hill, effectively creating a new pedestrian connection between the two streets. Each of the four buildings is three stories tall and contain three dwelling units, for a total of 12 units. Pocket neighborhood developments are dense, small-scale residential projects that fit within the existing neighborhood context while offering an alternative and sustainable lifestyle choice for residents.

The Treman Center

Noah Demarest has served as an architectural design consultant on the project since 2008. His original contribution was to figure out how to install fenestration to bring light and air into the building without losing the original barn charm. Noah was also responsible for designing the three-story timber frame staircase, the kitchen and bath layout, as well as visualization for the landscape courtyard and reflecting pool in collaboration with Rick Hedrick. More work continues as the building continues to transform from barn, to residence and ultimately a unique cultural center.

Gourd Workshop

STREAM Collaborative designed the first commercial building at EcoVillage at Ithaca. The Gourd Workshop is a 900sf workshop for the cultivation, harvesting, and processing of gourds from vegetable to art. The building features locally harvested and milled lumber for both the structure and finishes. The foundation was constructed of insulated concrete forms. Exterior walls were double staggered studs on a 2×8 plate with dense packed cellulose. The building features a cupola and a wrap-around porch providing a variety of shady and breezy places for the artist/client to work both inside and out. A 900sf Gourd Workshop for the cultivation, harvesting, and processing of gourds from vegetable to art. This workshop is part of the greater co-housing development EcoVillage Ithaca.
